Bohumil Hrabal, one of the most prominent Czech writers of the 20th century, found his second home in Kersko. It was here that he created his iconic “Slavnosti sněženek” (The Snowdrop Festival), capturing the charm of local life.
Now, Hrabal’s cottage comes to life again thanks to modern technologies that bridge the past and future—and of course, we couldn’t miss being part of it!
What We Created
We developed a mobile application that offers an interactive tour of the cottage and garden. Simply download it to your smartphone from Google Play or the App Store to immerse yourself in virtual views of the cottage and garden as they appeared in Hrabal's era. For those without a smartphone, ten devices are available for loan on-site.
Bluetooth iBeacon technology ensures seamless navigation even in areas where GPS is unreliable. At each point of interest, visitors can enjoy stories about Hrabal’s life, work, and unique personality. Think of it as a “literary geocaching” experience for both children and adults.
Why Visit Kersko?
Hrabal’s cottage beautifully connects history with modern technology. Visitors walk away not only with an unforgettable experience but also with a fresh perspective on literary heritage.
This project inspired the creation of the Quide platform, which delivers similar solutions for museums, landmarks, historical routes, and exhibitions. With 360° content, 3D models, and interactive trails, Quide gives exhibitions a whole new dimension.
So, whether you’re looking for inspiration for your next trip or innovative ideas for your institution, Hrabal’s cottage in Kersko is the place to visit. We’re thrilled to have been part of such a meaningful project. Challenges like these inspire us, and we believe there will be many more such inspiring solutions in the future!
